A destination wedding is on the top of many people's list. They want to get away from the rainy, grim weather and enjoy a celebration on the beach or somewhere exotic. The problem for most is the cost. The good news is that you can deal with that and still enjoy your big day in another country.
Plan Ahead to Make a Saving
By booking your wedding abroad at least three months in advance, you will be able to make a saving. The venue for the actual day will usually need to be made months before that but hold off on the hotel rooms and the flights. The companies tend to keep the prices high more than three or four months in advance because there is still time to get bookings.
To help make a saving for your guests, consider booking a block of rooms. These are usually done at a discounted price. You can then share the code with your friends/family members and make sure they can afford to come.
Paying for Your Guests
With a luxury wedding in another country, you may be tempted or feel like you need to pay for your guests. The truth is you don't but it could be a good gesture if there is someone particular you want there who cannot afford it. It may be the parents, grandparents or some of the groomsmen or bridesmaids, who couldn't otherwise afford to attend your destination wedding.
However, set a strict budget. You could soon find your whole budget being spent on travel and then not having the money for other areas. If it's not a necessity for that person to make it, consider apologising to hear that they can't make it and move on.
Look for the Smaller Destinations
When planning a wedding abroad, look for smaller cities and places that aren't quite tourist hotspots. This really helps to cut down the cost, while still benefitting in many other ways. In fact, you are more likely to get everything at a lower cost, since they are prices mainly for the locals to afford.
There is no need to opt for a big tourist location for your luxury wedding. The photos will still be beautiful and you will still be able to get the wedding of your dreams. If you want a photo at a specific site, book a venue that is close by and drive out specifically for that location.
Hire a Wedding Planner
You don't know all the vendors and businesses in the area, so it is worth hiring the help of someone who does. A wedding planner is a great way to make your wedding abroad perfect. They know the DJs to avoid or the wedding bands that are a must to book. The locals will know the best venues, places for beautiful wedding photography and even the best way to keep the costs down.
Your destination wedding doesn't need to be overly expensive. When you have a budget, you just need to plan ahead. Focus on where to spend that money and don't feel like you have to pay for all your guests. If you must, just pay for the ones that you really want to be there.
